Young Men molest 16-Year-Old Girl Before Setting Her Ablaze

The girl who was set on fire on the roof of her home was confirmed dead by the police on Wednesday, in what was the latest in a string of horrific sexual crimes in India.
The investigating officer, Ashwani Kumar, told AFP that the teenager, who sustained more than 90 percent burns in Monday’s attack, died in hospital early Wednesday.
''Unfortunately she could not be saved despite the best efforts of the medical staff. We have arrested the accused, who is 19 years old and sent him to judicial custody.
“An investigation is on to find out more about the motive and details of the crime,” the officer said.
The girl’s father was said to have accused a neighbour in their village in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh of continuously harassing his daughter for a year despite several warnings.
The recent cases of molestation in India have led the country to reform its rape laws, including speeding up of trials and increasing penalties for offenders, but a high number of assaults persists.
