Taraba Deputy Governor's mother regains freedom

Hajiya Hauwa-Belli Manu, the mother of the Taraba state deputy governor, has regained freedom.This Day reports that the elderly woman was released by her abductors on Tuesday, February 9, and was seen entering her residence at about 11.40pm.Confirming the release, Joseph Kwaji, the police public relations officer in the state, said that Mrs Manu was released due to the pressure mounted by the state police command.Kwali disclosed that the police were already closing-in on the abductors before her release and stressed that the command would not relent until they are brought to book.
Meanwhile, Hajia Manu has narrated her ordeal to Shaba Alkali, the state police commissioner who visited her after her release.The woman, who was released in good condition, disclosed that the abductors did not brutalize her but treated with courtesy.She said that she was offered food and drink before she was eventually released along Bali/Mutum Biyu road from where she found her way home.
