Gunners striker prevents tragedy for Arsene Wenger
OLIVIER GIROUD was Arsenal’s Greek god as his hat-trick saved their Champions League skin.
His treble meant the Gunners avoided an embarrassing exit to make the second stage for the 16TH YEAR in a row.
Hero Giroud said: “It is fantastic for me and the team, we are really achievement for us. We needed a perfect performance and we got it.“On the mental side and the tactical front.

“We were in escape mode and needed something special.
“Who knows, maybe it is a lucky year for us in the Champions League.
”Much-maligned Giroud last hit a hat-trick back in November 2011 for Montpellier at Sochaux.
Wenger added: “It was the perfect performance from Olivier.

“He scored a header, from a great pass by Joel Campbell and from the penalty.
“I’ve always defended Olivier’s character. He has something special on that front.
”Arsenal are now in the Champions League second round for the 16th season in a row.
