TRIBUTES have been paid to legendary Arsenal fan Ernie Crouch, who was killed in a freak accident while travelling to last weekend’s game between the Gunners and Sunderland in London.

Crouch, 90, first attended an Arsenal game as an eight-year-old in 1934 and was a regular at home and away matches from that point on.
He was reportedly walking to the game at Emirates Stadium when a gust of wind blew him into a bus.
Arsenal FC posted a short statement to its official Twitter account as media identity Piers Morgan also paid his respects.

A Met Police spokeswoman told the Evening Standard after the incident: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 12.35pm to reports of a traffic incident in Chaville Way, N3.“At the scene, a male pedestrian had been in collision with the side of a moving bus.“Medics at the scene performed CPR but the man died at the scene at 1.15pm.“Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased and next of kin have been informed.“
At this early stage, officers believe the man was caught by a gust of wind and blown off the pavement against the side of a moving bus.”Crouch was crowned Arsenal’s “Fan of the Season” in a competition last year. “All I do is attend matches because I love it and love the team so much and I am sure there are many more unsung heroes out there,” he said at the time.
